Therapy Services
Therapy at Mahogany is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and paced with care. We support adolescents, adults, older adults, children, and families who may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, relationships, school stress, family transitions, grief, caregiving responsibilities, or the pressure to keep everything together.
Many of our clients are high achievers who are used to overfunctioning, staying busy, managing expectations, and appearing composed even when they feel overwhelmed. Some struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, fear of failure, difficulty trusting others, or the feeling that their accomplishments are never enough.
For children and adolescents, these concerns may show up as school avoidance, fear of falling behind, reluctance to engage in therapy, difficulty being vulnerable, or anxiety about making mistakes. For adults with past trauma, they may show up as fear of intimacy, difficulty authentically connecting with others, trouble prioritizing their own needs, or a constant need to stay busy.
Our work is grounded in the belief that therapy should consider the whole person - including your culture, family upbringing, identity, relationships, and lived experience.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy offers space to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the experiences that may still be affecting your daily life.
At Mahogany, individual therapy may support clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship patterns, codependency, identity development, life transitions, caregiving stress, military life, or difficult past experiences.
We work collaboratively to identify goals, build insight, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
Therapy for Children and Adolescents
Children and adolescents often communicate distress through changes in mood, behavior, school performance, relationships, or family dynamics. Therapy can help young people better understand their emotions, develop coping tools, and feel supported as they navigate challenges.
Some children and adolescents appear successful, busy, and high-achieving while privately feeling overwhelmed, anxious, inadequate, or afraid of making mistakes. Others may begin avoiding school, withdrawing from activities, struggling in relationships, or having difficulty trusting adults enough to be vulnerable.
Mahogany supports children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, identity concerns, school-related stress, family transitions, perfectionism, emotional challenges, and difficult life experiences.
Parent Collaboration
When working with children and adolescents, caregiver collaboration is an important part of the process. We value regular communication with parents or guardians and may include parent check-ins to support consistency, shared understanding, and progress outside of sessions.
Therapy for Adults and Older Adults
Adults often come to therapy after realizing that old coping strategies, relationship patterns, or ways of managing stress are no longer working.
We support adults and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, caregiving responsibilities, relationship concerns, identity development, and the emotional impact of past experiences.
For adults who have experienced trauma, distress may show up as difficulty trusting others, fear of intimacy, trouble prioritizing your own needs, relationship patterns that feel hard to change, or the belief that your accomplishments are never enough.
Therapy can help you better understand how your history has shaped your present and create new ways of caring for yourself, connecting with others, and moving forward.
Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety and depression do not always look obvious from the outside. Many clients appear composed, capable, and high-functioning while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, worried, exhausted, discouraged, or constantly under pressure.
You may cope by over-functioning, staying busy, striving for perfection, taking care of everyone else, or pushing through even when you feel depleted.
Therapy can help you better understand what you are feeling, identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, and build tools to support emotional well-being in a way that feels realistic and sustainable.
Trauma Support
Trauma can come from many different experiences, including childhood trauma, relationship trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse, military-related stressors, loss, instability, or other adverse life experiences.
Sometimes trauma shows up as anxiety, difficulty trusting, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, disconnection, perfectionism, people-pleasing, fear of intimacy, or feeling like you are always bracing for what comes next.
At Mahogany, trauma support is paced with care. We help clients process difficult experiences, understand how the past may still be shaping the present, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
“Support for experiences that still affect how you feel, relate, cope, or move through the world.”
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Culturally sensitive therapy recognizes that your identity, culture, family upbringing, community, values, and lived experience all shape how you understand yourself and the support you need.
At Mahogany, we take time to understand the full context of your life. This can be especially important for clients who have felt unseen, misunderstood, marginalized, or expected to explain parts of themselves in other spaces.
Our goal is to offer care that feels respectful, relevant, affirming, and grounded in who you are.
